Kazakh Tazy

The Tazy is a hunting sighthound from Kazakhstan. Its lean build, long legs and deep chest combine with effortless movement and the ability to work independently.

Build and movement

The Tazy has a long, wedge-shaped head, hanging ears with long fringes, a tucked-up belly and a long tail with a curved tip. The short body coat contrasts with feathering on the ears, legs and tail. When searching, the dog moves at a free trot or a short gallop; in pursuit, it breaks into a full gallop.

Temperament

The standard describes a balanced, agile dog that makes quick decisions. The Tazy is reserved with strangers and calm and unobtrusive at home. These are breed characteristics; an individual dog's temperament is also shaped by its experience and upbringing.
